How to write for Uttryck

If you’re interested in contributing to Uttryck Magazine, please reach out to us! You’re welcome to write and share your ideas or drafts, and we’ll review them with you and provide feedback. You can also submit completed articles. We are open to a variety of article styles, including essays, opinion pieces, reviews, and portraits and interviews. We publish articles in both English and Swedish. Our focus is on foreign affairs and politics, so anything you submit should relate to these topics in some way. We encourage you to be creative and think outside the box!

Write for the online magazine

We publish articles for the online magazine on a continuous basis, meaning that you can submit an article or idea at any time and expect to get a speedy response. If we like your idea, we help you edit and polish your article before publishing it. This process is far shorter than the one for the printed magazine, meaning that if you have something you urgently wish to get published, this is your best bet.

We also highly encourage you to subscribe to our Monthly Newsletter below! The Newsletter is where we both update our subscribers about articles that have recently been written, and, importantly, where we announce our “mini-themes“. A mini-theme runs for one month, during which we invite our readers to write an article on that theme, which we then publish during that same month. This can be a specific topic, a competition, or something else. Then the next month the theme changes and the show goes on.

Write for the printed magazine

You can submit an article for publication on the website at any time, but if you’re interested in appearing in physical format, i.e. the printed magazine, you should keep your eyes open for the themes which we post on social media and elsewhere three times a year. Here’s the gist: a theme is announced, and you pitch an idea which fits that theme before a set deadline. You also get the help of an editor to perfect your article, and then it is printed and published. You get the printed magazine if you are a member of UF Uppsala, our parent organisation. Becoming a member is free and easy!

The current theme for the printed magazine is: Technology. Submit your pitch (or draft) to the email of the printed magazine before the 1st of February.
